Requirements of Living Things Unit
Needs of a plant and animal
The first concept the students will explore is the needs of a plant Vs. the needs of an animal. The students will grow plants and investigate what a plant needs in order survive. During this time they will compare/contrast what an animal needs to survive.
Next, the students will explore how adaptations help different organisms survive. One experiment the students will do to help understand this concept is investigating why birds have different kinds of beaks.
In the last part of the living things unit, students will learn about food chains. They will role play how food chains work and will also be asked to create their own examples of one. Students will also learn how the environment can have affects on the food chain.
